Worlds best chocolate Tonys Chocolonely now in Woolworths and Coles

A cult chocolate block, dubbed the “world’s best”, is now being sold in Australian supermarkets sparking a mad rush for the “insane” item.

Tony’s Chocolonely bars hail from the Netherlands and were previously only available to buy in boutique stockists.

But the popular confectionery brand has recently hit Australian supermarkets, with both Coles and Woolworths stocking a number of different flavours on shelves.

Social media users have been quick to spot the newest addition to the chocolate aisle, with many sharing reviews of the $8 sweet treat on TikTok.

“Holy cow, that’s insane,” well-known food blogger @AngeEats declared in a video recently.

“One of the best chocolates out,” another popular food reviewer, @nectoriouspapi, stated in his own review.

Coles started stocking Tony’s Chocolonely bars recently, offering four different flavours at 200 stores in 180g blocks and smaller 47g bars that retail for $3.50.

“Coles is excited to launch the Tony’s Chocolonely brand into 200 Coles stores across the country,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Our aim is to provide our customers with more choices when shopping the confectionery aisle and offer products that excite and delight along the way.”

‘World’s best chocolate’ hits Aussie supermarkets

Meanwhile Woolworths only stocks the larger bars, at a price of $8.25, but has seven different flavours available in 180 stores.

“This top quality Dutch chocolate has a cult following, and we’re excited to offer our customers seven flavours to add to their basket during their regular grocery shop,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Whether you prefer the comforting indulgence of milk hazelnut, or the more divisive dark almond sea salt, there is a Tony’s Chocolonely for everyone.”

Woolworths added it hoped the new addition would help the “shoppers going out of their way to buy Tony’s Chocolonely” by making it more accessible and convenient.

The chocolate bar, which launched 13 years ago and is made using ethically sourced cocoa, is so well regarded it’s been dubbed the “world’s best” by many fans.

Many Australians were delighted the cult choc block was now easy to find, describing it as “10 times better than Cadbury”.

However, it s “luxury” price tag proved a bit too much for some amid the current cost of living crisis.

“Good, but not worth the price,” one said.

“It’s insane, but not really worth the price,” someone else wrote.

But some rightfully pointed out “it’s expensive because it supports sustainable cocoa farming”.

“Best chocolate. It’s slave free … and definitely worth the price,” another said.
