Niecy Nash has always been a straight shooter. When she married a woman, most of her fans were shocked because she has never had a public same-sex relationship before.
Most people know and love the actress from her days on Reno 911. However, she’s had a multitude of other roles since then and has found her way to a leading role in Claws which is in the process of filming its last season.
While many of her fans have been supportive of her being queer and proud, one follower asked: ‘Just wondering have you noticed you have lost a lot of fans that was loyal to you before you came out?’
This is definitely a possibility considering that although it’s 2020 — homophobia is still running rampant.
Niecy told her follower that she wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep if that was the case.
‘If I lost a fan because of who I love then that wasn’t a real fan. Who/how I love has nothing to do with my art. I’m still a skilled, Emmy nominated, award-winning actress. I didn’t stop being great at my craft because of where I lay my head.’

This comes after she gave an interview where she explained that she didn’t consider her announcement coming out of the closet because she wasn’t in the closet to begin with. She sees her wife, Jessica Betts, as a soul. And that’s what she fell in love with.
‘[My marriage] has absolutely nothing to do with gender and it has everything to do with her soul. She is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life. I was not suppressing my sexuality my whole life. I love who I love. At one point in my life, I married twice and I love those people. And today I love this person. I’ve done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way. So my choice now in a partner has nothing to do with who I’ve always been. It’s a matter of who I am in this moment.’
