Karim Benzema almost didn't make it into Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night after LOSING his security pass before the game.

The Frenchman scored a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge, LaLiga leaders won their Champions League quarter-final first leg 3-1 in west London.

But the Madrid man almost didn't make it, boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed, after Benzema was unable to find his stadium pass before the game.

But, after being hurried along by his manager, the centre-forward found his permit and then found the back of the net.

It has also been revealed the striker fasted all day for Ramadan before he took to the pitch - making his treble all the more impressive.

"Before the game, Benzema was not able to find his pass to enter into the stadium,’ Ancelotti told Amazon Prime.

"I told him: ‘Be fast or you can’t play!’ - then luckily Karim found the pass."

There's a chance that Vinicius Junior helped out with his teammate's security issue, as he seemed handy at finding a pass for Benzema on Wednesday night.

The Brazillian got the assist for Benzema's first goal - a tremendous header into the top corner - whilst Luka Modric played a part in his second, and Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy gifted him his third.

All that despite not eating all day, after a day of fasting.

Benzema is currently observing Ramadan as part of his Islam faith, requiring Muslims to fast from sunrise to sunset.

It hasn't hasn't hindered his performance, however - in fact, the Frenchman believes it may have made him even stronger.

Asked about Ramadan's impact on his playing career, Benzema recent said in an interview with Esquire: "No impact.

"Ramadan is part of my life and my religion makes Ramadan an obligation.

"For me, it’s very important and I feel good when I’m fasting."

Asked what he's grateful for, he replied: "I am grateful for being in good health."
