EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Ang Low and New Single Premiere

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Ang Low is a fast rising Electro Pop recording artist who has recently released his new single ‘Let Go’. The track is Low’s first release in two years and sonically it is unlike any other track dropped by the artist.

Here we speak exclusively to Ang Low about his new music, future plans and much more, and we also bring you the media premiere of ‘Let Go’.

Growing up who inspired your love of music?

Well I wasn’t actually allowed to listen to anything but gospel music growing up. Mom was super religious..but West Indian and traditional. I could get away with listening to reggae and Brazilian.. which led to my love of dancehall. You can hear a lot of West Indian percussion in ‘Let Go’. I loved Artist Like The Dream, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man. Ryan Leslie, Musiq Soulchild and Sampha to name a few.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?

Lianne La Havas. She is original and never afraid to sing what she writes. She inspired some of the ideas in my live show.

If you weren’t a singer what would you be doing as a career?

I love to draw and watch anime. I would probably try my hand at drawing for an animation company and possibly on the side.. a Walmart door greeter.

How excited are you for the fans to hear your new music?

Very hype about fans hearing my new material. I worked on these songs with the idea that music can be anything I need it to be. Music keeps reinventing me and I love sharing the experience with my fans. Its also been awhile since I’ve released new music so I’m curious to see how my fans will like it.

How would you describe the sound of your new single ‘Let Go’ in the three words?

Rhythmic, Poetic, Love.

What is the main inspiration behind the track?

I was dealing with a rough breakup. All I could do was smoke weed and write. I was super sad and depressed and just had to find a way to let go. I decided to take a trip and clear my mind. I wrote the lyrics on the plane ride back.

Here we bring you the media premiere of ‘Let Go’;

Can fans expect an album from you soon?

Fans can expect an EP early January.

Do you have any touring plans lined up?

I would love to tour with some artists whenever those opportunities become available. But I play once a month in NYC. Next show is October 25th at The Well in Brooklyn. 9pm. I’ll be playing EP songs.

What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?

I hope to be known well enough to work with some artists I mentioned above. There would be nothing better.
